Online Status Check

Thank you for applying to Cornell Law School! We appreciate your interest in our law school and have created this website to keep you better informed about your application status. Because of the high volume of applications, emails and telephone calls that the Admissions Office receives, we ask that you use this system to monitor your application status.

Status Check System

How the Status Check System Works
The Status Check System will display the following status options:

Status   Meaning

Applied   We have received your application and you are in our system

Early Action Complete   Your Application is ready for review by the Admissions Committee. If your application was complete by the November 15 Early Action deadline, you should receive a written decision (Admit, Hold or Deny) by mid to late December. If your application was complete some time after the November 15 Early Action deadline then your application will be held over to the regular decision applicant pool.

Early Action Deferral   Your application is ready for review by the Admissions Committee. Your application was not complete by the Early Action Deadline, so it was held over to the regular decision application pool. If your application was complete by February 1, you should receive a written decision by the next 8 to 12 weeks.

Complete   Your application is ready for review by the Admissions Committee. If, your application was complete by February 1, you should receive a written decision by the next 8 to 12 weeks.

Decision   The Admissions Committee has reached decision on your application file and you will receive a written decision soon. Please be patient with the postal system. Please wait for 10 to 14 days to receive your written decision before contacting the Admissions Office.

The Status Check System will update your record when your status has changed. We understand that you want to know your status as soon as possible but we advise you to only check your status every few days instead of every few minutes.
